Our Fee Structure

Local Sales (Cash in Hand):

0% Fee
If your buyer pays you in cash or trades locally — you keep 100% of the sale. Just select Cash on Pickup at checkout to avoid any processing fees.

We charge nothing for local, face-to-face deals. That’s how communities grow.

Online Sales (Paid Through Hootinanny):

4% Platform Impact Fee + Buyer-Paid Credit Card Processing Fee

Here’s how it breaks down:

• 4% Platform Fee – Funds platform development, moderation, and our Hoots reward program.
• Stripe Processing Fee – Billed to the buyer at checkout: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

Buyers will see the processing fee as a separate surcharge. Vendors receive 100% of the sale price minus the 4% platform fee—no hidden deductions.

Why We Charge 4%

Big marketplaces often charge 10–20%+ and keep all the profit. We don’t.

Our 4% impact fee:
